Express FC loaded with Nakiwala cash

Feb 01, 2018

Express FC players have been known to go several months without pay.

Express FC players can now put their bodies on the line for the club in the upcoming second round of the league that kicks off next week after the club chairperson Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi paid off their arrears for the month of January, 2018.

Express FC players have been known to go several months without pay.

Last season, Express players almost boycotted playing their semi-final Uganda Cup against KCCA FC at Wankulukuku stadium because of two-month salary arrears. It took former Express coach Matia Lule to convince the team to play the match.

During a press conference hosted at Express FC offices in Mutundwe outside Kampala city centre, Nakiwala stressed that the problem of unpaid salaries cuts across all league sides although the people always want to target Express.

"We have lined up a good squad that will enable us to perform well in the second round of the league.

"The players are really motivated. On top of paying their arrears we have also doubled their daily allowances," Nakiwala said.

In the same press conference Express also unveiled its new players. These include; Jalilu Zimula, Isaac Kisujju, Shafik Kakeeto, Ayub Kisalita, Alfred Leku and Joseph Ssemujju.

Leku and Ssemujju are on loan from Vipers. By yesterday, Express was finalising a loan deal for Ibrahim Kayiwa from Vipers.
