Golfers to test themselves against the rest of Africa

Four Ugandan amateur golfers will compete against opponents from ten other African countries in the 2018 Windhoek Lager Championship that will tee off on June 20-23 at the Windhoek Country Club and Resort, Windhoek, Namibia.
But the Ugandans interested in the all-expenses paid trip are going to be subjected to a qualifier between February 10 and May 5 at the Uganda Golf Club and Entebbe courses.
According to a release by the Uganda Golf Union, the qualifying competition is open to all members of full status at UGU Affiliated Golf Clubs, which must be up to date with UGU affiliation to the year ending 31st December 2017.
Selection of the top four will be based on total scores over four events in Group A (lowest gross score), while groups B, C and the ladies will be considered on most stable ford points. Entry fee for each of the qualifier is sh50, 000.
The winners and country representatives will be treated to an all-expense paid trip to Windhoek, Namibia where they will not only compete against golfers from other countries but will also experience a great show of hospitality, camaraderie and sportsmanship all sponsored by Namibia Breweries, through their flagship Windhoek Lager Brand.
The Windhoek Lager Championship is a team event with more than 10 participating countries including Namibia, Botswana, Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Seychelles.
Each participating country enters one amateur player in each of the Handicap Groups: A (H/C 9 and below), B (H/C 10-16), C (H/C 17-24), and Ladies (H/C 0-36).

Round 1: Feb 10 - Uganda Golf Club
Round 2: March 3 - Entebbe Club
Round 3: April 7 Uganda Golf Club
Round 4: May 5 Entebbe Club
